Tire Linc TPMS Review
After moving to a new Grand Design Imagine 22RBE, we switched from our TST 507 TPMS to the Lippert Tire Linc tire pressure monitoring system. Here is our real-world Tire Linc TPMS review after installing it, using the OneControl app, and comparing it with the dedicated TST monitor we liked so much. The Tire Linc is an easy RV tire pressure monitor, but the question we had is whether it is the best choice?
Why We Needed a New RV TPMS
For safety, we like having a tire pressure monitoring system on our travel trailer. A TPMS lets us keep an eye on tire pressure and temperature while towing, which can help catch a low tire, rising temperature, or other issue before it turns into a bigger problem. On our prior camper, we used the TST 507 TPMS and really liked it. The flow-through sensors made it easy to add air, and the dedicated monitor made it easy to keep an eye on things as we drove.
When we moved to our new Grand Design Imagine 22RBE, we hoped to keep using the same TST system. Unfortunately, the wheel hubs on the new camper created an issue. The TST flow-through sensors should be used with metal valve stems, but the hubs on our camper made it difficult to install the correct metal stems. Based on our research, this seems to be a fairly common issue. Our dealer even took the tires to a tire shop, but they were not able to install the stems.
That left us needing an alternative RV TPMS. Since the camper was already prepped for Tire Linc, the Lippert Tire Linc system became the easy option.
What is the Lippert Tire Linc TPMS?
Tire Linc is Lippert’s RV tire pressure and temperature monitoring system. The basic idea is similar to other RV TPMS systems: each tire gets a sensor, a repeater helps send the signal forward, and you monitor the readings from the tow vehicle. Lippert’s has two systems, Tire Linc and Tire Linc Pro. Our camper came wired for the Tire Linc system.
Our camper already had a dedicated location for the Tire Linc repeater in the storage bay. It had power available which is a nice improvement compared with our TST repeater installation, which was connected at the battery box. The TST setup worked, but it was not as convenient to disconnect or power down between camping trips.
Tire Linc Installation on Our Travel Trailer
Installation was one of the best parts of the Tire Linc system. Since the camper was pre-wired, the repeater simply clicked into place. That made this much easier than routing wires or deciding where to mount a separate repeater.
The tire sensors were also straightforward. Each sensor screws onto the end of the valve stem. To install them, we removed the valve stem cap and screwed the Tire Linc sensor into place. In some cases, it took a few tries for the sensor to pair, but we eventually got all four installed.
Unlike the TST flow-through sensors, these are not flow-through. If we need to add air, we will need to remove the sensor, add air, and then reinstall it. That is not a huge deal, but it is one extra step.
Using the OneControl App
Tire Linc uses Lippert’s OneControl app. This is the same app Lippert uses for other RV components, so if your camper has other Lippert-connected gear, it can be convenient to have everything in one place. For example, if you add a Lippert RV door lock, you can open your door and monitor your tire pressure through the same app.
The downside is that a phone app is not always the best way to monitor trailer tires while driving. On one trip, one of our sensors temporarily stopped reporting. We did not receive a noticeable alert, and I would not have known about it unless I opened the app and checked. With the TST 507, we had a separate monitor that stayed visible in the truck and continuously cycled through tire pressure and temperature readings.
The Optional Tire Linc Display
Lippert offers a separate 2.5-inch handheld Tire Linc display. The display provides dashboard monitoring so you do not have to rely only on your phone. The version we found was listed at $285.95 and includes a suction cup mount, stand, and charging cable.
Having a dedicated display solves one of our biggest concerns with using an app-based TPMS. However, it also makes the overall system more expensive. One reason we liked the TST 507 was that the monitor came with the system. For an RV safety product, I would rather have the display included instead of sold as an add-on. In the future, I may purchase the dedicated monitor – but I’m not happy about having to pay extra for it.
Tire Linc vs. TST 507 TPMS
Our switch to Tire Linc was not because we were unhappy with the TST 507. In fact, after several camping seasons with the TST, we still liked it. The TST flow-through sensors made adding air easier, the dedicated monitor was clear, and we appreciated not needing another phone app just to monitor tire pressure.
The Tire Linc system does have a few advantages for our new camper. The pre-wired repeater location is cleaner than connecting a repeater at the battery box. The sensors are easy to install. The OneControl app may also be convenient if you already use it for other Lippert components.
Still, if we could have easily installed metal valve stems on this camper, we probably would have kept using the TST 507. For us, the dedicated monitor and flow-through sensors are meaningful benefits.

Would We Recommend the Tire Linc TPMS?
The answer is maybe. If your camper is already pre-wired for Tire Linc and you want a simple, integrated RV TPMS, it is a reasonable option. It was easy to install, the sensors were simple to add, and it is better than towing without tire pressure and temperature monitoring.
That said, if you are shopping for a standalone RV tire pressure monitoring system, I would still compare Tire Linc carefully against systems like the TST 507. We preferred the TST’s dedicated monitor and flow-through sensors. The main reason we moved to Tire Linc was compatibility with our new camper.
For now, we are going to keep using Tire Linc and see how it performs over the next few camping seasons. We will share a long-term update after we have more miles with it.
Frequently Asked Questions About Tire Linc TPMS
Does Tire Linc work without a phone?
The basic Tire Linc setup uses the Lippert OneControl app. Lippert also sells a separate Tire Linc display. If your camper has the newer Tire Linc PRO system, you may be able to use your vehicle’s display through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Are Tire Linc sensors flow-through?
The sensors we installed are not flow-through. To add air, we need to remove the sensor, inflate the tire, and reinstall the sensor.
Is Tire Linc worth it if my camper is pre-wired?
If your camper is already pre-wired, Tire Linc becomes a much easier choice. The installation is clean and simple. Whether it is the best RV TPMS for you depends on how much you value app-based monitoring versus having a dedicated display included with the system.
