Williamsport KOA Review

The Williamsport South / Nittany Mtn. KOA Holiday is a solid choice for RV travelers looking for a quiet overnight stop near I-80 and US 15, especially if you want full hookups, easy setup, and more family-friendly amenities than a basic campground. Located in New Columbia, Pennsylvania, this campground is close enough to Highway 15 and Interstate 80 to make a practical travel stop while still feeling quiet and tucked away.

Williamsport KOA Overview

We were heading north for a ten-day adventure in May 2026 and needed a one-night stop close to Highway 15 in Pennsylvania. The Williamsport South / Nittany Mtn. KOA Holiday seemed like a good option because it offered full-hookup sites, plenty of amenities, and a location that was convenient without being right on the highway.

This campground is designated as a KOA Holiday, which is the middle of three designations: Journey, Holiday, and Resort. A KOA Holiday will typically have some nice amenities, including a swimming pool, and at least some sites with a brick patio, some deluxe cabins, and group meeting facilities. KOA Holiday campgrounds are geared toward staying a few days and enjoying the campground rather than just making an overnight stop.

The Williamsport KOA is in New Columbia, Pennsylvania, in the Susquehanna River Valley. It is about five miles from the main highway route, which made the drive a little longer than we typically choose for an overnight stop. However, that extra distance also helped make the campground quieter. During our stay, we heard minimal road noise, with the occasional tractor from the farm across the road being the main exception.

Williamsport KOA Activities

As a KOA Holiday, the Williamsport KOA has more amenities than you would expect from a basic overnight campground. We noticed the swimming pool, bouncing pillow, a basketball hoop, and miniature golf. The playground was very large, maybe the biggest playground we’ve seen yet in a campground. There was also a gathering area that could be used for outdoor events.

At the front of the campground, near our campsite, a large open field looked perfect for games like kickball or just giving kids room to run around.

The campground also has a well-stocked camp store. We appreciated the coffee station, which could help speed up departure in the morning if you do not want to make coffee at your site. Ice cream was available, and the nearby café offered pizza and breakfast items at a reasonable price.

One relatively unique feature was the small farm-style area with goats and chickens. The fishing pond added another activity option, and we saw a few people casting a line. Together, those features helped the campground feel more like a destination than a simple overnight RV park.

For our quick stop, we did not use many of the amenities. However, the range of activities would make this campground a good candidate for families or for campers looking to spend more time at the campground itself.

Williamsport KOA Sites

We stayed in the section near the front of the campground that seemed set up well for short stays like ours. The sites in this area were basic, but they had what we needed for an easy overnight stop. While the sites were open with minimal privacy, there were large shade trees between sites.

Our site had full hookups and the gravel pad was close to level. We used one block, which made setup simple. There was plenty of room for our Ram pickup and Imagine 22RBE travel trailer.

The view from our site included a large field, the road, and the farm across the street. It was not a secluded wooded site, but it did have some large shade trees between sites. For a one-night stay, the site worked very well.

We had a full hookup pull-through site. The electric and water connections were located toward the back of the site, while the sewer connection was closer to the middle. All the hookups worked fine during our stay.

There were a few premium pull-through sites available. These added a brick patio and upgraded seating.

To get to the short-term sites, you’ll need to turn around in front of the camp store. If you are in a smaller rig, you might just be able to make a U-turn. In our case, we pulled forward and looped through the first campground loop. That got us pointed toward the campground entrance and enabled easy access to the sites up front.

There were other sites available. They appeared to be undergoing improvements. Overhead power lines were being buried, which will likely make the campground feel more natural. It may have been early in the camping season during our visit, but none of these sites were occupied.

A large number of sites were occupied by longer-term visitors. Many had decks, sheds, landscaping, or other elements that indicated use as a seasonal or long-term campsite. Most were modern campers in good shape – just being used more for seasonal visits than for travel adventures.

If you aren’t traveling in an RV, no problem. KOA Williamsport had some nice looking camping cabins.

For tent campers, there were tent sites with a covered area, a nice touch that we haven’t seen in other campgrounds.

Williamsport KOA Amenities

The laundry facility was clean. There were four front-loading washers and dryers available. The cost to wash during our stay was $2.00. A book exchange was available in the laundry room.

The bathhouse offered several showers. The facilities were nicely tiled with wood above the tile. While not new, they were in good condition.

While Wi-Fi was offered, we didn’t have the opportunity to test it. We did try cable TV and were able to receive a few channels.

A large dog play area is available? While there weren’t agility play items, it would probably be a great place for your dog to run.

Williamsport KOA Staff

Staff gave us a friendly greeting on arrival. Our stay was short, so we did not have much interaction with the staff beyond the basics. Everything about our arrival and setup was straightforward, and we did not run into any problems that required assistance.

Williamsport KOA Directions

The campground address is 2751 Millers Bottom Road, New Columbia, Pennsylvania. The drive from US 15 was fine, though it was a bit farther off the main road than we usually pick for an overnight. It is a five-mile drive on a two-lane road. The extra distance from the highway helped keep the campground quiet. For us, that was a worthwhile tradeoff.

As you approach the campground, it will be on the right, and the turn was easy with our camper.
