Hersheypark Campground - Travel Trail Sail

The Hersheypark Camping Resort, formerly Hershey Highmeadow Camping Resort, is part of an entertainment and resort complex in Hershey, PA.

If you plan on visiting the Hersheypark theme park or an event like a concert at Hersheypark stadium, this is a great choice for a campground. The campground is clean and the RV sites are level.

The pool is very nice. In the barn next to the pool, there is a large camp store with a wide variety of Hershey souvenirs.

A free shuttle runs from the campground to Hersheypark about every 30 minutes. We used the shuttle and found that it ran fairly often and was much easier than driving & parking.

One last advantage to staying here is that you can purchase discounted tickets to the theme park. These tickets also give you extra hours in the park.

When I was searching for a campground, I came across some mixed reviews. Downsides to this campground are that the sites are pretty close together. This isn’t uncommon in a commercial campground. It would be nice to have a bit more space for each camp site.

The other criticism some people have for Herseypark Campground is that the trains are loud and frequent. It is true, trains do pass here. They are carrying the cocoa beans needed to make all of that great chocolate. The noise is louder than at many places we have camped – but it isn’t the loudest. The loudest trains we have encountered were at the Red Trail Campground in Medora. Many campgrounds seem to be located near train lines. It usually isn’t a problem. In many cases, if you are using your AC, the sound of the fan will be much louder than the passing trains. If you prefer a quieter stay, there is a well rated state park near here.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hersheypark campground and look forward to visiting again. Hersheypark was a very nice theme park. It had several rides not available at Busch Gardens or other parks we have visited. Having the water park inside the park was also a nice touch. We also used this to visit nearby Gettysburg which was a nice day trip from Hershey.

If you go, expect to pay 60.00 for a full hookup site on a summer weekend. This is a bit high but reasonable for a nice campground with these amenities.

If you like Hersheypark Camping Resort, you would really like the Fort Wilderness Campground at Disneyworld.
