Endview Plantation
I had a great weekend camping at Endview Plantation. This plantation dates back to the 1600’s and has a long and interesting history. It has been a tobacco plantation, military hospital, and battlefield. The current house was built in the 1700’s and is used today as a museum. The site hosts many events during the year especially highlighting civil war reenactments.
I was camping with a Boy Scout Troup for their annual Thanksgiving in the Woods. This is a great event. We had a Turkey dinner with some great sides. After dinner Saturday, we had a campfire. However, instead of the usual silly skits, a historian from the plantation gave us a great ghost walk and told stories of Mariah, Stephen, and the other ghosts that roam the area. It was a cool, clear night with a great view of the stars – perfect for the chilly stories that were told.
If you have a chance to visit the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, take a few minutes to check out Endview. It is one of the many great historical sites in the area. And, watch out for those ghosts.
