I just added three more states to my visited places map; Maine, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. That makes seventeen total states I have visited since getting my camper about 2 and a half years ago. There is so much to see in the USA and I am glad to have the opportunity to do at least some of it. Look for upcoming posts on Acadia National Park, Boston, Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower, Hershey Park, and Gettysburg.
My criteria for adding a state is that I have to camp there at least one night and must spend at least a day sightseeing. It doesn’t count if I just drive through the state or only camp as a stop over toward some other destination. If I counted those, the map would be much more complete. But, I think it is important to take the time to get to know an area and visit at least a few of the things that make it special before I can really say I
have been there.
If you want to create your own map, it is really easy. visit the epgSoft site and do the following:
- select the states you have visited
- select an image size, use small if it is for a forum or email signature
- select a file format, usually JPEG
- click ‘create map’
- If it looks OK, then right click or control click and select to ‘save image as’
Now you have a great image that helps tell the story of the places you have been. We keep a similar map in the window of our camper. It can be a nice conversation starter when people ask about one of the states you have visited.
